November and December turned into a soggy wet mess...as a result I only managed 132 miles leaving me 268 miles short of the target. A bit disappointing but I realise that I started too slowly really and hoped that I could catch up in summer and autumn.
Anyway the motivation is still there so let's see what 2024 brings!
So far it has only brought more rain!

October turned out to be a reasonable month despite the weather..just over 82 miles completed. We had one very wet walk with our walking group...the second time we had done this walk...and the second time it had rained all day!
Managed a trip to the coast as well as a walk to our favourite cafe boat for coffee and cake.
Just a little over 400 miles to go as at the start of November.
Didn't take many photos ....

September started well, dipped in the middle as we visited my wifes brother then picked up again towards the end...68 miles completed giving a total of 515 miles and over halfway.
I need to up the weekly mileage quite a bit now as there are only 14 weeks left! Time flies!

August proved to be the best month mileage wise this year...78.55 completed.
A couple of walks with our walking groups helped plus good weather through most of the month meant I could get out and do a few walks round our local area.
One highlight was a trip to a local town we had passed through before, but never stopped in, to visit our favourite 'cafe boat'. At the 'Discovery Centre' I was able to pick up some walks leaflets....just the thing for the autumn (or fall).

I still need practice!
Well June did not turn out well for the challenge!
At the start of 2023 I signed up to a 1000 mile walking challenge. I have always enjoyed walking/hiking in the countryside and a house move (our first in 36 years) to an area which has beautiful countryside on our doorstep seemed the perfect excuse to take on this challenge.
Also the tragic and sad loss of a very dear friend and beautiful soul in 2022 who we met in a walking club and who we enjoyed many walks with also provided motivation.
As I write this in May 2023 I am a little behind schedule but as the summer approaches it won't take long to catch up. Currently at 248.5 miles...I only count the miles when I put my walking shoes/boots on!
Here are a few pictures of the challenge to date...
